  One of the Most Important
Musical Compositions in my Life

Feel the Divine
Feel your Spirit Soar

From the 6:40 minute mark to the end of this video
Was the music I listened to
when I first saw the Grand Canyon

This section of music will only take
10 minutes of your time
And well worth it
If you don't want to spend that much time
Then click over to the 6:40 minute mark
And listen to the end
But I highly recommend listening to the entire video
I recommend headphones
Open your Mind and Heart
Close your Eyes
Journey to these most special moments

~*~

1:46 We hear the antiphonal horns
In this symphony this means
there is a separate group of horns off stage
often positioned in the balcony
They represent the horns of heaven

4:10 A very lovely section

6:40 The beginning of my Grand Canyon Music
The climax coming at the 7:55 minute mark
That's when I opened my eyes to see the canyon

The Two Majesties (1883) by Jean-Léon Gérôme

~*~

This is the best description of AOM's mission
Why I do what I do
This is a quote I read to start each day

“To be hopeful in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness.

What we choose to emphasize in this complex history will determine our lives. If we see only the worst, it destroys our capacity to do something. If we remember those times and places—and there are so many—where people have behaved magnificently, this gives us the energy to act, and at least the possibility of sending this spinning top of a world in a different direction.

And if we do act, in however small a way, we don’t have to wait for some grand utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory.”

~Howard Zinn

Hey Sweetie,
Happy Monday!

It is a short post day
But bursting with great stuff

One of my favorite quotes
One of my favorite pieces of music

I invite you to be here tomorrow
As I will be discussing the future of AOM

 Let us continue to promote
Peace and Love
and continue to build
The more Beautiful World
Our Hearts know is Possible

I wish you a most beautiful day

Peace and Love,
AOM

~*~

I invite you to join me now in this short Metta Prayer
Radiating the energy of peace and love out to all living beings
Take a few deep breaths to clear your mind
And focus on the here and now
This present moment
Now
Breathe in
Filling your being with peace and love
As you begin each line, breathe out slowly
Breathing these thoughts into the world
Reading, thinking, and feeling the words with peace and love
Sending them from your heart
Giving the energy to yourself and to all living beings
Breathe in and repeat the process for each line

Quotes from Thich Nhat Hanh
(A Teacher I greatly admire)

“Around us, life bursts with miracles--a glass of water, a ray of sunshine, a leaf, a caterpillar, a flower, laughter, raindrops. If you live in awareness, it is easy to see miracles everywhere. Each human being is a multiplicity of miracles. Eyes that see thousands of colors, shapes, and forms; ears that hear a bee flying or a thunderclap; a brain that ponders a speck of dust as easily as the entire cosmos; a heart that beats in rhythm with the heartbeat of all beings. When we are tired and feel discouraged by life's daily struggles, we may not notice these miracles, but they are always there.”

~Thich Nhat Hanh

~*~

“I have noticed that people are dealing too much with the negative, with what is wrong. ... Why not try the other way, to look into the patient and see positive things, to just touch those things and make them bloom?”

~Thich Nhat Hanh

~*~

"Do not be idolatrous about or bound to any doctrine, theory, or ideology, even Buddhist ones. Buddhist systems of thought are guiding means; they are not absolute truth."

~Thich Nhat Hanh

Hey Sweetie,

Happy Tuesday to you and yours

I hope you are having a lovely day
Thanks for your comments and E-mails
I really appreciate hearing from you
You keep me blogging

Sometimes I just open up my head
And let you look inside
It's a messy place
(Yes! That is a hamster running on a wheel in that corner)
:  )
So here we go

I mentioned yesterday
That I would discuss the future of AOM today
Well
I don't know what I think
Lately, I've been feeling stuck creatively
I've considered many ideas
But I don't know which direction to go

I plan to continue blogging
Whether it is here at this version of AOM
Or perhaps create a new version of AOM
Since I don't know what to do
My plan is to continue posting here
And play around with new ideas
Or at least try to mix things up a bit
Something to break up the routine
And jump start some new ideas
So
As for now
I shall continue posting here at this version of AOM

The one thing I do know
The creative process
Is a very messy mess to mess with
A messy process to process
Especially for intuitive people like me
Who travel along by feel rather than thought
:  )

With that said
These days of stuggle and uncertainty
are just part of the process
And that's a good thing
Good things come from these struggles

I wish you a Beautiful Day, my Friend

Peace and Love,
AOM

Masters of Photography: F. Holland Day

 Fred Holland Day
(July 8, 1864 - November 12, 1933)

Day was an American photographer and publisher.
He was the first in the United States
to advocate that photography should be considered a fine art.
Day's photographs allude to classical antiquity in manner,
composition and often in theme.

He spent much time mentoring poor immigrant children in Boston,
and tutoring them in reading.
One in particular, the 13-year-old Lebanese immigrant
Kahlil Gibran,
went on to fame as the author of The Prophet.
 Here are two portraits of
Kahlil Gibran by F. Holland Day

Suffering the Ideal
by James Crump

"The short-lived career of nineteenth-century photographer F. Holland Day is the basis for this important historical monograph. Though he is perhaps best known for his controversial "sacred subjects" in which he posed himself as Jesus Christ, Day quickly moved to the forefront of American photography with his portraiture and his later mythological series. Day was probably the first great photographer of the male nude. He was a friend of Oscar Wilde and an early proponent of gay rights, women's rights, and racial equality..." (Source: Amazon.com)

(I found this quote when I was struggling with questions in my heart -
Interesting how we find things when we are in need of them)

Be patient
towards all that is unresolved in your heart
and try to love the questions themselves.

Most of us play it safe by putting our needs aside when faced with the possibility of feeling guilty, disappointing others, or facing conflict of some kind. At home you may abdicate your need for support with the kids to keep peace with the spouse, letting your resentment build over time. At work you may allow a complaining coworker to keep draining your energy to avoid confrontation--and end up hating your job. Or you may go right back to saying yes to family members who give you a hard time to avoid their emotional rejection, only to feel frustrated by the lack of quality time that you have for yourself. We work hard to manage the perceptions of others, ignoring our own needs, and in the end we surrender the very thing that will allow us to live authentic, meaningful lives--our power. We have been trained to surrender our power early in life. Each of us has been taught to live by the rules imposed on us in both subtle and not so subtle ways by generations of parental influences, societal demands, religious expectations, and educational training.

GLORIOUS JOY!

Let's get our hearts a pumpin'
And our blood a flowin'
You will if you conduct this one

HA! You ought to see me conduct
Now that would be a funny video clip
But I don't care
I LOVE to move to music

I would love for you to listen
To this entire symphony
But I realize most of us
May not have the time right now
So
I try to keep our music posts
Around ten minutes
Today I want us to listen to the
4th movement of this symphony
So you will need to skip over to the
26:50 minute mark in this video
And listen to the end

“As I began to love myself I found that anguish and emotional suffering are only warning signs that I was living against my own truth. Today, I know, this is “AUTHENTICITY”.

As I began to love myself I understood how much it can offend somebody if I try to force my desires on this person, even though I knew the time was not right and the person was not ready for it, and even though this person was me. Today I call it “RESPECT”.

As I began to love myself I stopped craving for a different life, and I could see that everything that surrounded me was inviting me to grow. Today I call it “MATURITY”.

As I began to love myself I understood that at any circumstance, I am in the right place at the right time, and everything happens at the exactly right moment. So I could be calm. Today I call it “SELF-CONFIDENCE”.

As I began to love myself I quit stealing my own time, and I stopped designing huge projects for the future. Today, I only do what brings me joy and happiness, things I love to do and that make my heart cheer, and I do them in my own way and in my own rhythm. Today I call it “SIMPLICITY”.

As I began to love myself I freed myself of anything that is no good for my health – food, people, things, situations, and everything that drew me down and away from myself. At first I called this attitude a healthy egoism. Today I know it is “LOVE OF ONESELF”.

As I began to love myself I quit trying to always be right, and ever since I was wrong less of the time. Today I discovered that is “MODESTY”.

As I began to love myself I refused to go on living in the past and worrying about the future. Now, I only live for the moment, where everything is happening. Today I live each day, day by day, and I call it “FULFILLMENT”.

As I began to love myself I recognized that my mind can disturb me and it can make me sick. But as I connected it to my heart, my mind became a valuable ally. Today I call this connection “WISDOM OF THE HEART”.

We no longer need to fear arguments, confrontations or any kind of problems with ourselves or others. Even stars collide, and out of their crashing new worlds are born. Today I know “THAT IS LIFE”!”

~Charlie Chaplin
