FEELIN' GOOD!

Such a lovely song
Great for driving around

*AND THE MAGIC BEGINS*
by GEMINNA

In the magic forest
The sunrise hugs my body gently like a lover
And the magic begins...

I feel, I smile, I embrace freedom
The sunset hugs my body gently like a lover
And the magic begins...

Night walked into the magic forest as day walked out
And the magic forest falls asleep
Soft earth is like a comfy bed
And I walk into a magic dream
And the magic begins... with You.

Radiating the energy of peace and love out to all living beings
Take a few deep breaths to clear your mind
And focus on the here and now

Breathe in and repeat the process for each line

Starring Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, and Brenton Thwaites

Based on the best-seller by Lois Lowry
(A book you may have read in school)
It explores a world where
Emotions and all differences have been abolished
Sameness is the rule of the day
The Giver is a very good movie
And it has the extra special bonus
Of having the handsome Brenton Thwaites

Here's a trailer:

Gloriously Lovely

Last week we listened to the
4th movement of this Mozart Symphony (#39)
Today we have the 3rd movement
I am posting it because
The trio section kept playing in my head all weekend

The trio section is so very nice
It occurs at the 1:51 minute mark
It is played by the two clarinets and flute

"The work has a very interesting minuet and trio. The trio is an Austrian folk dance called a "Ländler" (thought to have contributed to the evolution of the waltz.) and features a clarinet solo. The forceful Menuetto is set off by the trio's unusual tint of the second clarinet playing arpeggios in its low (chalumeau) register. The melody for this particular folk dance derived from local drinking songs which were popular in Vienna during the late 18th century." (Wikipedia)

This movement is around three minutes

"In this age of the quantified self, we measure how many hours we slept, steps we took, calories we burned. Yet we know nothing about ourselves. We spend more time checking-in to our stats than our souls. Our experience is mined for data but not depth. We have all these numbers to improve now, but no idea how to dial back the numbness.

Life doesn't need to be a spreadsheet, yet our useless fascination goes on. We spend more time shopping, in considering the thread-count of our sheets before purchase, than we do soul-searching, that beautiful art of thinking about the quality and purpose of our lives.

We are addicted to the constant digital stream, often peering gape-mouthed into the sordid details of other people’s lives; in the process we have checked-out of reality, neglecting our own life so pregnant with potential and meaning.

If we are to measure and monitor and improve anything, let it be our presence and character, a mindfulness for who we are and how we are experiencing and relating with the world.

Have I been true to myself?

Have I lived vibrantly today?

Have I loved openly today?

Have I made a difference today?

Let us check in to ourselves in these ways;
for, in the end, these are the only measures that matter."

~Brendon Burchard

Pheidippides by Luc-Olivier Merson

Pheidippides: Father of the Marathon Race - "The traditional story relates that Pheidippides (530 BC–490 BC), an Athenian herald or hemerodrome (a "professional-running courier"), was sent to Sparta to request help when the Persians landed at Marathon, Greece. He ran about 240 km (150 mi) in two days. He then ran the 40 km (25 mi) from the battlefield near Marathon to Athens to announce the Greek victory over Persia in the Battle of Marathon (490 BC) with the word nikomen (We are Victorious) and then collapsed and died." “To really change the world, we have to help people change the way they see things. Global betterment is a mental process, not one that requires huge sums of money or a high level of authority. Change has to be psychological. So if you want to see real change, stay persistent in educating humanity on how similar we all are than different. Don't only strive to be the change you want to see in the world, but also help all those around you see the world through commonalities of the heart so that they would want to change with you. This is how humanity will evolve to become better. This is how you can change the world. The language of the heart is mankind's main common language.”

MUSIC: Mahler's "Adagietto" from Symphony No.5

GORGEOUS YEARNINGS OF LOVE!

One of Mahler's most popular compositions

If you are familiar with Mahler's Adagietto
Then this performance may be a little different for you
I know all too well
That I love music performed the way
It was played when I fell in love with it
But I really wanted to hear it the way Mahler conducted it

Many versions of this movement play about 12 minutes
Both Bernstein and von Karajan do this
But Mahler performed this piece under 8 minutes
While I adore the Bernstein and the von Karajan
I wanted to experience it closer to how Mahler intended
So today I am posting Claudio Abbado interpretation
His performance takes about 9 minutes

This is an extraordinarily beautiful work
It exhibits “lonely and blissful contemplation”
and “emotion intensely felt and
yet restrained in expression.”
(Garland)

It has been said of the Adagietto
That it is a love song to his wife, Alma
