 Glen Travis Campbell
(April 22, 1936 – August 8, 2017)
I remember when I was eight or nine years old
Playing my 45s and LPs of Glen Campbell
I still remember singing along to
Wichita Lineman, Galveston, and Gentle on My Mind
It brings back memories of the house we lived in then
Glen was quite the hero to us
He was raised in the same church we went to
And he was from Arkansas like we were
He was a favorite son

I had another song planned for today
But then I saw the news that Glen had passed away

To honor Glen
I thought I'd play my favorite song of his

The creative is the place
where no one else has ever been.
You have to leave the city of your comfort
and go into the wilderness of your intuition.
What you'll discover will be wonderful.
What you'll discover is yourself.

There is a wise being living inside of you.  It is your intuitive self.
Focus your awareness into a deep place in your body, a place
where your "gut feelings" reside.  You can communicate with it by
silently talking to it, making requests, or asking questions. Then
relax, don't think too hard with your mind, and be open to
receiving answers.  They are usually very simple and relate to
the present moment, not the past or the future, and they feel right.

Radiating the energy of peace and love out to all living beings
Take a few deep breaths to clear your mind
And focus on the here and now
This present moment
Now
Breathe in
Filling your being with peace and love
As you begin each line, breathe out slowly
Breathing these thoughts into the world
Reading, thinking, and feeling the words with peace and love
Sending them from your heart
Giving the energy to yourself and to all living beings
Breathe in and repeat the process for each line

Daphnis et Chloé (detail) by François-Louis Français-Paysage

 ORGASMIC!!!!

I Strongly Recommend listening to this
It is only about 5 minutes long

A suite is a collection of short musical pieces
which can be played one after another.

Today we will hear the first section from Suite #2 of
Ravel's music to the ballet, Daphnis et Chloé
Suite #2 is the music to the last part of the ballet

The story concerns the love between
the goatherd Daphnis and the shepherdess Chloé.

"The story line of the ballet is based on the ancient Greek writer Longus' (200 AD) pastoral tale of the passion that grows between Daphnis and Chloe, two foundlings raised by shepherds and goatherds on the island of Lesbos. Part One introduces Daphnis and Chloe, who become fast friends. Daphnis teaches Chloe to play the pan-pipes; the two fall in love; Chloe is abducted by pirates; Daphnis prays to the god Pan for assistance." (Source) Daphis gets Chloe back and everyone dances, celebrating their reunion.

Daphnis et Chloé Suite #2 is made up of three pieces but we will only hear the first one:

1. Lever du jour (Daybreak) - As day breaks, Daphnis and Chloé are reunited. An old shepherd, Lammon, explains that Pan helped them in order to honor his own love for the nymph, Syrinx.

Note: The nymph, Syrinx, was a follower of Artemis, known for her chastity. Pursued by the amorous Greek god Pan, she ran to a river's edge and asked for assistance from the river nymphs. In answer, she was transformed into hollow water reeds that made a haunting sound when the god's frustrated breath blew across them. Pan cut the reeds to fashion the first set of pan pipes, which were thenceforth known as a syrinx.(Wikipedia)

"Lever du jour" (Daybreak)
This music is absolutely the most beautiful
Musical painting of sunrise I've ever heard

Setting the Scene:
It is dawn - the twilight before the sunrise
We first hear the forest stream - then
We feel the burgeoning tension of anticipation
As the birds and animals of the forest awaken
And then the glorious sunlight breaks across the land
Ecstasy
It is also a gorgeous musical expression of orgasm
Truly - listen to it and hear
Listen to the repeat of the Sunrise motif
It builds and builds into a huge, explosive climax
Da Da Dee Da -
Da Da Dee Da -
DA DA DEE DA -
DA DA BANG!
(Trains go into Tunnels as Fireworks Explode across the Skies)
:  )

~*~

I really wish this performance included the other two sections
But - oh well

I chose this performance because
It's Live, it's Excellent, has High Quality Audio
And mainly because they used a CHORUS!
Most performances of this piece do not use a Chorus
(Because of the expense of paying the singers)
Even though Ravel adamantly insisted on it
And I agree - it is even more magical with the "wordless" Chorus

If this is your first time listening to this music
I suggest listening to it at least twice
(The more the better)
It's only about 5 minutes long

First time, listen while watching the orchestra
Second time, listen with your eyes closed
Move your hands to it
Really embrace it - immerse yourself in it

So Headphones on
Click Play
Sit back - Relax
Eyes Closed (2nd time through)
REVEL IN THE ECSTASY

"Invite the Sacred to participate in your joy in little things, as well as in your agony over the great ones. There are as many miracles to be seen through a microscope as through a telescope. Start with little things seen through the magnifying glass of wonder, and just as a magnifying glass can focus the sunlight into a burning beam that can set a leaf aflame, so can your focused wonder set you ablaze with insight. Find the light in each other and just fan it."

BEAUTIFUL!!!

I Highly Recommend listening to this music
It's only 6 and half minutes long

Last Thursday we listened to"Daybreak"from
Ravel's Daphnis et Chloe Suite #2
Today we will listen to the second section
Pantomime (The Love of Pan and Syrinx)
It has what is regarded by many as
The greatest flute solo in all of music

It starts at the  2:06 minute mark
It truly is amazing
After the solo around the 4:56 minute mark

Starts a most beautiful
LUSH
Section of music, it is LUSH
Best word I can come up with to describe it

I hope you will listen to this music
Tomorrow we will listen to the finale
